Requirement into three years NCE program are as per the national Commission for Colleges of Education guidelines which are as follows;

A Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE), NECO, or GCE ‘O’ level with credits in five subjects including English language and Mathematics. Two of the credits must be obtained in the courses the candidate wishes to offer.

A grade II Teachers Certificate (TC II) with credits in five subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer, for the technical College, the subjects must include Mathematics/Arithmetic and other physical science subjects.

NABTEB/City and Guild/WAEC Technical/Craft/International Part II Course B. Certificate in Building and Woodwork, Mechanical or Electrical trades respectively plus the Federal Craft Certificate (FCC) with a least four credits passes in four academic subjects including Mathematics, Science, English Language and Social sciences.

WASC (Commercial) or BSA Stage II Group Certificate with credits in the five(5) subjects at not more than two sittings.


All returning and new students must register their courses of study with the Academic Officer at the beginning of every semester. All returning and new students must complete Central Registration Exercise (with the Academic Officer, Bursary, school Library and Students Affair’s Division) before registering for individual subject with the-departments.

All new students must produce original copies of their certificate or any certified documents as evidence of their qualification(s). Students should register with the names by which they are admitted. The College does not usually approve change of names, but if students have to change part of his or her name, he or she must fulfill the condition stated on page 36 of this handbook.



  • All requests for change of course shall be made in writing through the Head of Department or Dean of School of the original department to the Academic Secretary.

  • All such request must be made not more than six weeks after the commencement of the program

  • Students seeking changes of course must satisfy the requirements of the department they wish to change and shall pay a change of course fee to Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

  • All intra- and inter- department transfer must be approved by the Provost.


For proper computation of contacts hours for each course in a program of study, National Commission of Colleges of Education approves the following ;

  • A two semester year(first and second semester for regular courses) for all Colleges of Education.

  • The first and second semester should last between 17 and 18 weeks each, (including registration, teaching and examination periods.), provided that not less than 15 weeks during each semester is devoted to teaching.

  • Long vocation period should be adopted for vocation courses program study for the long vocation should last between 12 and 13 weeks, 10 for which are devoted to teaching.

For maximum utilization of resources, the College runs part-time programs during vacation.



Every full-time student is required to register for a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 24 credit units per semester except for students on field experience, teaching practice or industrial attachment. 

A student must earn a total minimum of 128 to 132 credit units to graduate covering: Education, project, general Studies , Teaching practice and a double major or two teaching subjects.



a. A student shall pass his or her request for deferment through his or her Head of Department (HOD) to the Academic Secretary not later than one month after the close of registration.

b. Deferment shall be only once, and shall be entertained during the succeeding session.
c. The Academic Secretary shall pass the application to the academic Board. 
d. The decision of the board shall be convened to the applicant and the department.



No student will be registered without his or her full payment of fees. Students must pay the following fees:
  • Tuition Fees
  • Caution Deposit (for new students only)
  • Examination fee
  • Identity Card (ID)
  • Clinic Registration Fee
  • Students information Handbook
  • Library Development Levy
  • Sport Fee
Any student who does not register within four weeks of resumption should consider himself/herself no qualified for the semester.



  • All students entering the college for the first time to undergo the first year of their NCE course are required to matriculate at a formal ceremony presided over by the Provost , which takes place after the registration to be organized by the Students Affairs Deanery.

  • Dean of each school shall present his or her students for matriculation while the college registration would administer the Oath.

  • Students are made to solemnly undertake and swear to observe and respect the provisions of the college law and the statue, or finance and regulations lawfully made hereunder which are now in force and which shall from time to time be brought into force, thereafter, the matriculants signs the oath register, staff and students are expected to be properly dressed in academic gowns.



  1. All NCE (technical), NCE(Business). NCE(agriculture), NCE(fine Arts), NCE(Computer Science) and NCE(Home Economics) students will have to undergo 16 weeks (four months) of industrial attachment in two phases:8 weeks industrial attachment each at the end of their first and second years.
  2. Students will during the period of industrial attachment be placed in industries, commercial establishments, etc. where they will be engaged to the practical realities of what they have been taught in the classroom.
  3. Placement to SIWES places is done by the co-coordinator.
  4. Students on attachment are expected to:
    • Keep standard log books where they record all training activities and other assignments.
    • Be regularly present at their respective place of attachment and sign attachment register.
    • Produce identity cards before receiving payments and obey company rules and regulations.
    • Complete the end of program evaluation form (ITF Form 8)
    • Write a comprehensive report of their experience during the period of attachment.
