The College

ADMINISTRATION & ROLES
THE GOVERNING COUNCIL
This is the body charged with the responsibility of the general management of the college. Membership is made up of representatives of the State Government, National Commission for College of Education, Provost of the College, a representative of the Academic Staff and the Registrar of the College as Secretary.

ACADEMIC BOARD
The academic board is generally responsible for the academic affairs of the college. Its membership is made up of the Provost, Deputy Provosts, Dean of the School, all Heads of Department and Directors, Chief Lecturers, Registrar, Librarian, Bursar, Dean of Student’s Affairs and Academic secretary.

PROVOST
The provost is the Chief Executive and Academic Head of the college. He is responsible for directing day-to-day maintenance of College buildings, minor jobs and supervision of other major works undertaken by and on behalf of the college.

REGISTRAR
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the college. He is also the Secretary to the Governing Council. The Registrar is one of the Principal Officers of the College. He is responsible to the Provost for day-to-day Administration of the College. The Registrar is the Head of Registry Department, which consists of Registrar’s Office, Establishment Division, Academic Division, Information and Publication, Student’s Affairs Deanery, College Clinic, Works Department as well as Security Department.

  • Establishment Division: this division is in charge of personnel matters, it arranges the appointments, promotions and discipline of both academic and non-academic staff.

  • Academic Division: the academic Division is responsible for coordinating academic time-table, examinations, compilation of results and their release, and keeping of academic records of students.

  • Student’s Affairs Deanery: is responsible for the general welfare of students and their social activities. It also acts as guidance and counseling unit to students on both academic and personal matters.

  • College Clinic: the college Clinic provides primary health care to all members of the college community. Presently, it is supervised by Senior Nursing Superintendent who is responsible to the Provost via the Registrar.

  • Works Department: the works Department is responsible for the maintenance of College buildings, minor jobs and supervision of other major works undertaken by and on behalf of the college. The works Department is headed by a Senior Technical Officer who is responsible to the Provost via the Deputy Provost (Administration).

  • Security Department: the security Department is responsible for the security of the College property. The Chief Security Officer who is responsible to the Provost presently heads it.

THE BURSAR
The Bursar is the Chief finance Officer of the College and is responsible to the Provost on all issues concerning finance and control there-of. The bursar is also the Heard of Bursary Department.

DEPUTY PROVOST (ADMINISTRATION)
The deputy Provost (Administration) is a principal Officer of the College. He/she deputizes and assists the Provost in the effective management of the College. He/she is directly responsible to the Provost.

DEPUTY PROVOST (ACADEMICS)
The Deputy Provost (Academics) is also a principal Officer of the College and responsible to the Provost. He assists the Provost on academic matters. Therefore, he works hand-in-hand with the Academics Secretary to ensure the effective coordination and administration of academic matters. All the Deans of schools are responsible to him.

COLLEGE LIBRARIAN
The college Librarian heads the library. He is also a Principal Officer and is directly responsible to the Provost. He advises the Provost on library matters and also ensures that the library is effectively managed.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
All the principal Officers of the College constitute the Management Committee with the Provost as Chairman. The committee is next to the College Governing Council and treats emergency cases in the College.

COMMITTEE OF DEANS AND PRINCIPAL OFFICERS (CDPO)
All the principal Officers and the Deans are members of Committee of Deans and Principal Officers, with the Provost as Chairman. The Committee discusses and deliberates on issues that affect the academic and non-academic staff of the College.
