The college of Education Minna runs the NCE long Vacation Semester program (LVSP) for the period of four contact sessions leading to the award of Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE). The subject combinations offered in this program can be classified into two categories, namely double majors and combined majors.

PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the long Vacation NCE program is to provide opportunity for serving primary and junior Secondary Scholl Grade II teachers to acquire further training and upgrade their knowledge and expertise from their existing level of professional training to the next higher level (NCE), with a view to improve the quality of primary education in Nigeria.
OBJECTIVES
To produce better skilled serving teachers at both primary and secondary school levels but with emphasis on primary school teachers.
To provide opportunity for serving Grade II teachers who may not be able to go for the NCE regular full time course to upgrade their professional training.
To raise the prestige and social status of primary school teachers.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The entry requirements should tally with those of the regular full time program, viz;
A senior Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or GCE ‘0’ Level with pass in 5 subjects including English Language, all of which must be at credit level in the same sitting or at two sitting. Two of the credits must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer, Credits in English Language and Mathematics is required in all courses.
A Grade II teacher Certificate (TC II) with credits or in three subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer. Credit/Merit in English and or Mathematics may be required in some courses.
For candidates wishing to offer courses in vocational Technical Education, RSA or City and Guilds intern certificate with credits/merits in at least four subjects is acceptable qualification.
Candidates with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience and any other qualification approved by NCCE may be admitted into this program.
DURATION
The duration for the long Vacation Semester Program should not be less than 4 years. Students must pass the minimum required credit unit prescribed in the minimum standard from the relevant courses to graduate.
